Köylerde buğday ve mısırları elemek için en çok ihtiyaç duyulan gereçti elek ve en çok da bunu satın almak istediklerinden sadece elek satanlar da vardı demek ki ‘’elekçi ‘’ ismini almışlardı. Hatta bu isim onlarla o kadar özdeşlemişti ki o yıllarda yerinde duramaya ve çok gezen çocuklara ‘’ elekçi gibi gezme ‘’ derlerdi.
Köy köy gezen bu elekçi ve çerçiler, köylülerin ihtiyacı olan eşyaları tedarik etmenin yanında bakıp kazan, tencere ve tavaları kalaylar. Dışarıda açık alanda odun ateşinde büyük kazanlarda pekmezler kaynatılır, bulgurlar kaynatılır ve kışlık erzaklar hazırlanırdı.
